Day 1: AIRPORT / COLOMBO - Approximate travel time 01 Hour

Helanka Vacations representative will meet you at the arrival lounge and transfer to Colombo. Arrival time to be update. Arrive and check into the hotel. Thereafter set on a sightseeing tour in Commercial capital – Colombo.

Colombo is Sri Lanka’s bustling commercial hub.

Start your city tour and shopping. A drive through the city will take you to Fort and Pettah – the commercial area of the city and tree-lined Colombo 7 – Cinnamon Gardens.  Colombo 3, 4, 5 & 8 are the prime residential areas of the City. The Hindu Temple at Sea Street – lined with goldsmith shops, the Dutch Church at Wolfendhal dating back to 1749, the historic Devatagaha Mosque, Independence Square, BMICH, Gangaramaya Temple and Colombo Museum are but some of the many attractions in Colombo. Sri Lanka is renowned for Ceylon Tea, Ceylon Cinnamon, Blue Sapphires spices, precious and semi-precious gems and jewelry in silver, gold and white gold.

The nightlife here is lively at a number of clubs, pubs and dining venues.

Day 2: COLOMBO / KITULGALA - Approximate travel time 02-03 Hours

Breakfast at the hotel.

Thereafter proceed to Kitulgala.

In Kitulgala there are plenty of adventure activities that include white water rafting, bird watching, jungle walks, rain forest trekking, mountain cycling and river bathing. Kitulgala is most famous for their white-water rafting and other water activities that double as great team building experiences.

Check into the hotel for lunch.

In the afternoon, set on trekking, jungle walks and bird watching tour. The Kitulgala forest reserve would be the ideal rainforest habitat to spot most of the lowland endemic species of birds including the Green-bill Coucal, Chestnut-backed Owlet, Red-faced Mal koha, Sri Lanka Spot-winged Thrush, Grey Hornbill, Sri Lanka Spur fowl, Ceylon Jungle fowl and Yellow-fronted Barbet. The newly discovered Serendip Scoops Owl was also first heard in this forest. Plenty of insect repellent and anti-leech socks, if you have a pair, are useful to wear when entering the forest. Mammal species found here include the Grizzled Indian Squirrel, Layard’s Striped Squirrel, and the Purple-faced Leaf Monkey. The streams hold endemic fish and many species of amphibians. The Earless Lizard, Kangaroo Lizard, and the Hump-nosed Lizard are among the reptile species and are frequently seen in the foliage along the Kelani River. Day 3: Kitulgala

Breakfast at the hotel. Set on a white water rafting session in the morning hours. White Water Rafting is a challenging recreational activity and an exhilarating water sport. Yet contrary to the public belief, White Water Rafting is not a sport that demands great physical strength. An average level of physical fitness and a strong spirit would do. White Water Rafting, generally enjoyed in the white-waters as well as in other turbulent waters, brings about an enthralling experience to the water sport enthusiasts. Though the ability to swim is a definite advantage, a compulsory Personal Flotation Device will be provided, a necessary outfit for a White Water Rafting as it is guaranteed to save you from drowning if you fall overboard. However those suffering from heart ailments, epilepsy as well as those who are uncomfortable in turbulent waters aren’t advised to go White Water Rafting. Some of the rivers of Sri Lanka afford the opportunity for recreational activists and water sport enthusiast to enjoy White Water Rafting. The small town of Kitulgala in the hill country is the most famous place in Sri Lanka to do so. Return to the hotel for lunch and relax. Evening set on a cycling tour. Return to the hotel. Day 4: KITULGALA / Haputale - Approximate travel time 03-04 Hours

Breakfast at the hotel. Proceed to Haputale. Haputale is at an elevation is 1431 m (4695 ft) above the sea level. The area has a rich bio-diversity dense with numerous varieties of flora and fauna. Haputale is surrounded by hills covered with cloud forests and tea plantations. The town has a cooler climate than its surroundings, due to its elevation. The Haputale pass allows views across the Southern plains of Sri Lanka. The South-West boundary of Uva basin is marked by the Haputale mountain ridges, which continue on to Horton Plains. En route set on a site seeing tour in Nuwara Eliya. Start sightseeing Nuwara Eliya by visiting the old brick post office, country house like hill club and its interesting interior, the 18-hole golf course, race course, Gregory Lake, Strawberry farm and Victoria Park. Visit a tea factory and a plantation. Check into the hotel for lunch. Free time to enjoy the area. Dinner and overnight in Beragala / Melheim Resort

Day 5: Haputale / Yala - Approximate travel time 02-03 Hours

Early morning with packed breakfast proceed to Horton Plains for a trek. (Horton Plain opening hours 6AM – 6PM).

Horton Plains is rich in nature. In view of the large nu mber of endemic flora and fauna species, Horton Plains was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Numbering at 57 species of flora of which 29 are endemic to Sri Lanka, 24 species of mammals, 87 species of birds, 9 species of reptiles and 8 species of amphibians, the park is covered in stunning sights.

Return to the hotel. Thereafter proceed to Yala. En route view the beautiful Diyaluma Fall. Diyaluma Falls is 220 m (720 ft) high and the second highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and 361st highest waterfall in the world. It is situated 6 km (3.7 mi) away from Koslanda in Badulla District on Colombo-Badulla highway. The Falls are formed by Punagala Oya, a tributary of Kuda Oya which in turn, is a tributary of Kirindi Oya. Lunch at a local restaurant. Arrive and check in to the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Day 6: Yala / Udawalawa - Approximate travel time 01-02 Hours

Early morning set on a jeep safari in Yala national park. (Leave hotel 5.45am)

Catch a glimpse of not one, but two of Sri Lanka's revered Big Five; the agile sloth bear and magnificent leopard at the Yala National Park. The park is also home to 44 varieties of mammal and 215 bird species. Yala National Park boasts its unmatched beauty across all plains with a wondrous ecosystem of countless flora and fauna residing within its boundaries. Despite their name, sloth bears are a species known for their exceptional agility and quick reflexes. You can find these fast-paced yet humble animals wandering the plains of Yala, scavenging for fruit and honey to soothe their specially adapted palette.

Return to hotel for the breakfast. Thereafter proceed to Udawalawa. En route lunch at a local restaurant. Visit the Elephant transit home in Udawalawa. The Udawalawe Elephant Transfer Home is a facility within Udawalawe National Park in Sri Lanka that was established in 1995 by the Sri Lanka Department of Wildlife Conservation. Its primary objective is to rehabilitate orphaned elephant calves for ultimate release back into the wild. Arrive and check into the camp in Udawalawa. (Campfire in the night / Camping night experience). Rest of the day at leisure. Dinner & overnight at the camp / Big game camp Udawalawa.

Day 7: Mirissa Day Itinerary (Udawalawa / Mirissa - Approximate travel time 02-03 Hours)

Early breakfast at the hotel. Leave hotel at 7.00am. Set on a jeep safari in Udawalawa National park.

Udawalawe national park covers 30,821 hectares. Udawalawe is an important habitat for elephants and is ideal for bird watching. The park is home to the Rusty-spotted cat, Fishing cat, Leopard, Sloth bear, Sambar deer, Wild boar and Water buffalo. Endemic birds such as Spurfowl, Red-faced malkoha, Grey hornbill, Brown-capped babbler, Jungle fowl black-capped and Kingfisher can also be found here.

Return to the camp. Check out after the lunch and proceed to Mirissa. En route view the stilt fishermen in Weligama.

The tranquil waters of this paradise-like coastal town are more than plenty of a reason for one to want to venture here. The fine gold sands that rest along the shore of Mirissa are lined with a vast array of restaurants, hotels and pubs that compels to stop by and indulge in all they offer from their fresh catches of the day to beach-side cocktails ideal for the setting.

Day 8: Bentota

Day Itinerary (Mirissa / Bentota - Approximate travel time 02-03 Hours) Early breakfast at the hotel. Leave hotel at 05.45am. You will be taken to Mirissa to embark on a voyage of unforgettable sights while whale watching. (Seasonal). Blue whales, Bryde's whales, Sperm whales, Orcas and various types of dolphins have all been spotted within the crystal waters of Mirissa. Bare witness to pods of over 100 dolphins majestically soaring across the water and whales sprout water through their blowhole as they slowly emerge through the water’s horizon all in one breath-taking boat ride. Enjoy breakfast on board while returning back. After boat safari, return to the hotel. Check out after the lunch and proceed to Bentota. Bentota is famed as the prime beach resort town of the south-western and southern coastal belts of Sri Lanka. This town provides the perfect location for holidays by the beach as it is enriched with safe swimming combined with fun water sports and pristine palm fringed beaches. En route set on a city tour in Galle. Galle is the best example of a fortitude city built by the Portuguese in the South, showing the interaction between Portuguese architectural styles and native traditions. The 300- year-old Galle fort is a world heritage site. A remarkable site paved with cobblestone streets and reminiscent buildings now occupied by boutique shops and fine dining restaurants that enhance the ever so vivid setting of the town. A Sightseeing tour of Galle includes a visit to the National Maritime Museum, St. Mary’s Cathedral and the Shiva Temple. Visit a turtle hatchery. Check into your beach hotel. Day 9: Bentota

Day Itinerary (Bentota) Breakfast at the hotel. Morning free time to enjoy the beach and the poolside. Bentota is famed as the prime beach resort town of the south-western and southern coastal belts of Sri Lanka. This town provides the perfect location for holidays by the beach as it is enriched with safe swimming combined with fun water sports and pristine palm fringed beaches. Optional – Watersports Activities (Banana Boat Ride – USD 15 pp / Tube Ride – USD 15 pp / Canoeing – USD 35 pp) Lunch at the hotel. Afternoon, proceed with the mangrove boat ride along the Madu river- Balapitiya. During the river safari, visit uninhabited islands and a cinnamon plantation where you can get an insight into typical rural life. Return to the hotel. Enjoy a dinner on the beach with a special Fishermen’s theme night. Overnight at the hotel / Centara Ceysands.
